The answers to your questions

Questions about Counseling

Q. How can I pay for my services?

A. Some insurances are accepted depending on your provider: Blue Cross Blue Shield, Blue Care Network, and Priority Health. Some insurance plans provide out-of-network benefits also. If you don’t have insurance coverage and wish to be seen, please contact us.

Q. What happens in counseling?

A. Have you ever tried explaining an experience or a favorite movie, and words just don’t do justice? Counseling is kind of like that. Imagine an experience where you feel fully know, where the entire 50 minutes is dedicated to understanding your worldview, your relationships, and your struggles; and then imagine after about 4 sessions when the counselor understands your strengths, weaknesses, and struggles, and the two of you collectively find creative solutions to complex problems. You are fully known and fully understood. Pretty special, right? Past clients have commented, “(Counseling) was much better than I imagined…I don’t know why I waited so long.

Q. How long is a session?

A. Counseling sessions typically run approximately 50 minutes.

How often will I come?

A. Research indicates that counseling works best and is most efficient when the counselor and the client meet weekly. Clients tend to average approximately 10-15 sessions, and we usually have a good idea how long counseling will last after session #4.

Who do you serve?

Over the years I have met with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I specialize in anything relationship. If you have been hurt by relationship, it is likely you will find healing via the counseling relationship. Examples of reasons why people often seek counseling are trauma, depression, anxiety, and addition.

Do you have any women counselors on staff?

A. Yes, we do! You can find out more about Sarah Schemper here.

Can you help me?

A. Counseling works at a rate of about 70%, and approximately 90% of my clients continue until completion. You will be the person doing the work, but yes, collectively we can do this!
